Narrators : Wanted
The Time Traveler Show is seeking narrators to read stories on upcoming shows. TTS is a great way to showcase your talents and get your voice talent heard. You can join some of the best new and experienced voice actors reading great works of fiction for a world market. There is no pay for the performance. The show is released under a creative commons license, which makes it free to anybody who wants it. This helps the show, and you, be heard by the greatest number of people possible.

What do you need to do? Here’s a short list of things to keep in mind:

You’ll need an external microphone. Built-in microphones just don’t get it. I’m looking for a good website on explaning microphones. If you know of any, please send me a link.

If you’re recording into your computer, you’ll need a sound program to record with. Audacity is a free open source record and editer that you download at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/.

You”ll need a quiet place to record. Small rooms with lots of soft, absorbing surfaces work best. Walk-in closets are usually well suited for recording.

How does it work? I would like to hear a sample by you before I assign you a story. The sample should be at least 2 or 3 minutes and need not be over 5 minutes. You can read from any text you please, but it needs to contain some dialogue and some narrative. I will be listening for differences in the characters voices (yes, this is acting) as well as the quality of your voice. And also the quality of the sound recording. I’m not expecting professional studio quality sound, but much better than just acceptable. You need to save your sample file as an MP3, and email it to time@timetravelershow.com.
One thing that may surprise you is that mistakes in your reading is okay. What you’ll need to do is back-up to the beginning of your sentence and try again until you get it right. You can learn to edit out the mistakes. If you’re comfortable with editing and would like to do this or learn how, that would be great.
